Javier is the founder and Managing Partner of Mediterranean Renewables SGEIC, a CNMV-regulated private equity platform investing in renewable energy infrastructure, and of Gravitas Investments and Consulting, his independent advisory and investment vehicle. He holds the CNMV General Management License and has spent over fifteen years across renewable energy investment, fund management, and strategic advisory work in Europe, the US, and Asia.
Javier began his career as a market analyst for the Spanish Ministry of Economy in Singapore, where a national fellowship took him deep into Asia-Pacific macroeconomic research. That period shaped a lasting interest in how capital, infrastructure, and policy intersect across markets, which led him toward energy investing on his return to Europe.
He spent four years as an investment executive at a €300 million solar PV investment fund based in Madrid and Rome, where he helped close over 300MW of solar PV projects across Europe and secured debt commitments exceeding €600 million from a syndicate of multilateral and development banks. He went on to co-found WHEB Infrastructure in London, where as Partner he helped raise and invest over €200 million across two renewable energy funds, sat on the Investment Committee, and served as a director across a portfolio of eighteen investee companies — all of which were ultimately sold successfully to long-term holders.
In 2016, Javier co-founded ACCI Capital SGIIC, a Madrid-based asset management company, where he served on the Board until his exit in 2022. He founded Gravitas Investments and Consulting, through which he has advised private equity funds, infrastructure operators, and corporates including KKR, Searchlight Capital, Merlin Properties, Acciona, and BMW Ventures. He also makes pre-IPO investments in technology companies in the US and Spain, including ChargePoint (NYSE: CHPT), Orbital Insight, and Valens (NYSE: VLN). In 2022, he co-founded Mediterranean Renewables SGEIC, where he serves as President of the Board and Chairman of the Investment Committee, overseeing the firm’s strategy, governance, and capital allocation.
Javier has held advisory and board roles including the Advisory Board of Linse Capital III (2017–2023) and Board Advisor to Cable Energía, which he helped guide through its acquisition by Shell in 2022.
He holds degrees from ESCP Europe and Cass Business School, an MA in East Asia Studies, and has completed executive programs at Harvard Business School, Stanford, and IESE. He is a native Spanish speaker, fluent in English, French, and Italian.
